The Guts of Life

Back in December, I wrote Streams of Living Water from Deep Within .  I had a follow up thought the other day, a slightly different way of framing the idea that “out of your bellies shall flow rivers of living water.” That word “belly” is from the Greek ‘koilia’, meaning hollow, referring to the abdominal cavity, used figuratively for “belly” or sometimes “womb”.

Therefore, with ‘belly’, the question is, ‘What are you full of,’ and with the womb ‘What are you producing?’ Out of what you carry at the gut-level flows the energy that affects those around you. Said another way, the influence that actually moves people around you for the better flows from the gut level.  As I have said previously, the promise here is that the ordinary, humble aspects of being shall be the seat of God’s redemptive power.
