Idols and Rebels

“We are men also, with the same nature as you…”

Paul and Barnabas shouted this at a crowd that was about to start worshiping them.

I recently had a conversation with a friend about kids who rebel from really conservative families. How does that subject relate to this verse? The thought came to me is this: a possible reason why the rebellion is so perplexing is that we don’t really view our fellow church-goers as being just as human as us. What I mean is that Sunday morning can be to humanity what Instagram is to real life. Sunday morning is, often, the social media of spirituality. Why do these people have issues? Because they are people with a nature like my own.
