A Management Truth

The thing about working in a bigger company is that the issue of not being able to control everything that happens (because, to be honest, that’s where I feel like I’m at in this business of half a dozen people right now), is going to get harder, not easier. If I am going to be in any position of accountability (a leader who has to function as the face of the company, to either a customer or an employee), I have to become a master of influence. The thing is, someone with a level of ambition and technical proficiency can control things, but influence, emotional leadership, requires a kind of energy that I am not sure I have ascended to yet.
